You might not think that there are a lot of women in small business, but there are over six million of them in the United States alone. That is a lot of women who are creating their own future, creating their own job and sometimes jobs for other people, too. Almost half of all self-employed people are women right now, which is a percentage that is continuing to grow quickly.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of women who don't think they could ever do it themselves. They have been brought up not to think of themselves as creative, entrepreneurial people and are more comfortable working for an hourly wage. Especially right now, when so many people are losing their jobs, having an hourly or even a salaried job is no longer a safe option. But, women in small business know that their future lie in their own hands instead of their employer's.

With the advent of the internet, it is become suddenly much easier for women in small business, especially those who are bringing up children. You can now work from home on a computer and not compromise your role as a mother and a wife. You can continue to provide the benefits of a full-time mom to your children while bringing in a full-time salary for your family's budget.

Right now, there are many great opportunities for women with even a minimal level of computer skills. As long as you have a computer and access to the internet, then it doesn't take much to set your business up and start making money right away. Whether you want to work in writing, advertising, marketing, website production, or any other type of business online, you will find that there are currently many more opportunities to make money than you could possibly ever handle.
